Law Enforcement & Government Requests
Last updated: August 25, 2026
1. Introduction
Sweetr respects the privacy of our users and is committed to protecting their personal information. At the same time, we cooperate with law enforcement and government authorities when we are legally required to do so. This page explains how we receive, review, and respond to such requests, and what you can expect from our process.
Our cooperation policy is guided by Romanian and European Union law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We aim to respond responsibly: protecting user privacy by default, while ensuring that serious illegal activity is addressed promptly and appropriately.
2. How Requests Are Received
We accept law enforcement and government requests only through official legal channels. Requests must be submitted in writing and accompanied by valid legal process, such as:
- Court orders or judicial decisions
- Subpoenas or summonses issued by a competent authority
- Search warrants or equivalent investigative orders
- Other binding legal instruments recognized under applicable law
Informal requests, phone calls, or messages from non-official accounts are not accepted. All requests should be sent to:
3. How We Handle Requests
Every request we receive goes through a structured review before any data is disclosed.
Authentication
We verify that the request comes from an authorized law enforcement or government agency and that the requesting official has authority to act on its behalf. We may request additional credentials or contact the issuing authority directly to confirm authenticity.
Legal review
Our team reviews each request to confirm that it is valid, properly scoped, and supported by applicable law. We may reject, narrow, or challenge requests that are overly broad, lack proper legal basis, or conflict with user privacy protections under Romanian and European Union law.
Response timeline
We aim to respond to valid requests as quickly as possible while ensuring a thorough legal review. Response times depend on the complexity of the request, the scope of data involved, and any legal deadlines specified in the request itself. Emergency requests involving imminent harm may be prioritized when supported by appropriate legal process.
What we may disclose
We disclose only the minimum data necessary to comply with a valid and legally binding request. Depending on the request, this may include:
- Account registration information (such as email address and account creation date)
- Profile information the user has provided
- Content the user has posted or shared on the platform
- Connection or usage logs where retained and legally required
- IP addresses and device-related metadata where available and required
We do not provide data beyond what the legal process requires, and we push back on requests that seek information unrelated to the stated investigation.
4. Proactive Reporting of Serious Illegal Activity
Sweetr does not wait for a formal request when we encounter activity that poses a serious and immediate risk. Where we become aware of content or conduct that we reasonably believe involves:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or exploitation of minors
- Human trafficking or sexual exploitation
- Credible threats of violence or imminent harm to a person
- Non-consensual intimate imagery or revenge porn
- Other serious criminal activity as defined under applicable law
we may preserve relevant evidence, remove the content, suspend or terminate the associated account, and proactively report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities or recognized reporting organizations (such as national CSAM hotlines), as required or permitted by law.
5. Our Cooperation Policy
Our cooperation with authorities follows these principles:
- Privacy by default: We protect user data and disclose only what is legally required.
- Legal process required: We respond to formal requests supported by valid legal instruments; informal inquiries are not honored.
- Minimum necessary disclosure: We narrow the scope of every request to the data directly relevant to the investigation.
- Transparency where permitted: We notify affected users of data requests unless prohibited by law or where notification could cause harm.
- Proactive action on serious harm: We do not require a request to act when serious illegal activity is identified on our platform.
- Consistent legal standards: All requests are evaluated under Romanian and EU law, regardless of the requesting authority's jurisdiction.
6. User Notification
We believe users should know when their data is requested by authorities, unless the law prohibits us from doing so. Where legally permitted, we notify affected users before disclosing their information, giving them a reasonable opportunity to challenge the request. We may delay or withhold notification when a valid gag order, court order, or applicable law requires it, or when notification could create a risk of harm or compromise an ongoing investigation.
7. International Requests
Sweetr operates under Romanian law and complies with applicable European Union regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Requests from authorities outside Romania or the European Union are evaluated on the same legal basis. We require that international requests comply with applicable mutual legal assistance treaties, European legal frameworks, or other recognized mechanisms for cross-border data disclosure. Requests that do not meet these standards will not be honored.
8. Contact
Law enforcement and government agencies may submit requests to hello@sweetr.one. Please include all relevant legal documentation, the specific data requested, and a point of contact at your agency. For general questions about this policy, you may also reach us at the same address.
